The Living Body

Workshop with Francesco Vecchione

A space to arrive. To listen. To move.

This workshop is an invitation to explore the body as a living archive, a place where memory, gesture and story meet. Through somatic practice, improvisation and guided tasks, we will work together at the intersection of presence and imagination, of the individual and the collective.

You do not need to be a dancer. You need only curiosity and a willingness to be in the room. “The Living Body” is the methodological foundation of Francesco Vecchione’s community dance theatre work, developed over years of practice and most recently at the heart of “The Silent Waltz of the Many”, a participatory creation co-produced with the Pina Bausch Zentrum Wuppertal that brought together around fifty citizens of the city alongside professional artists.

In this workshop, we will also take a first step into something new: the beginning of a choreography that will form part of next year’s creative project, a first seed of what is to come.

This workshop is part of the NACHHALL DER MANY series, the final phase of “The Silent Waltz of the Many”, and precedes the first open gathering of the series later that same evening at Tanz Station.
