almost finished #2 | Workshop

“How is the body to move when seen as rain?”: A workshop with Angus Balbernie (UK)

As part of “almost finished” | Research, workshop and presentation series by Caroline Simon & guests

In “almost finished” Caroline Simon collaborates with internationally established dance artists in workshop and performance formats that focus on the art of improvisation. ” almost finished” invites participants and audiences alike to immerse themselves in the world of this spontaneous art and to be surprised.

On June 28, 2026, the performer, choreographer and improvisation artist Angus Balbernie from England/Scotland will be a guest.

This workshop explores the question of whether observing improvisation is similar to experiencing a landscape. After all these years, it’s become clear to me that improvisation must be viewed the way one views a landscape. It’s a question of exchange, of immersion—physically and perceptually—and of the forms of mapping. So how can we perform landscape? How should the body move when it’s viewed as rain? This workshop explores ideas surrounding physicality and imagination, investigating the improvising body in the same way we would explore a landscape…
