In just a few years, the Pina Bausch Zentrum in the heart of Wuppertal will be a unique cultural venue of the 21st century that combines openness, diversity and accessibility. In addition to the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, the Pina Bausch Foundation and an international production centre, the ‘Forum Wupperbogen’ is also a central element of this project: an element that integrates and involves the urban community.
How do we design a cultural institution together? How do we combine the four parts into a whole that grows beyond itself? What does participation mean in this context and how can we make it possible?
We will address these questions as part of the event series ‘What is a Pina Bausch Zentrum?’ and develop visions for the cultural venue of the future. Participation in all events is free of charge and open to anyone interested.

„Was ist ein Pina Bausch Zentrum?“ is a cooperation between Wohnen in der Politik and the Pina Bausch Zentrum „under construction“. Wohnen in der Politik is a collaboration of the Master’s degree programme in Public Interest Design at Bergische Universität Wuppertal, the director and actor Olaf Reitz and the communication centre die börse.
